Book to Movie Adaptations I Would Like to See

Lolita

Starring:

Kevin Spacey as Humbert Humbert (Hurry! Before he starts to look too old. Playing the President of the United States is taking a toll on him after all.)

Millie Bobby Brown (That Girl from Stranger Things) as Lolita

Directed by Woody Allen (Ha! Just kidding.)

In Cold Blood

Starring: Oscar Issac as Perry Smith. I feel like they hardly ever, EVER depict Perry Smith the right way in movie adaptations. I’m still miffed about Daniel Craig playing him in Infamous.

Directed by Quentin Tarantino

The Taming of the Shrew

Starring: Helen Mirren as a gender bent Petruchio (I mean, she’s already played Prospero in The Tempest, so why the hell not? You know what? Just go ahead and gender bend every leading man role in every Shakespeare play and cast Helen Mirren. Helen Mirren as Hamlet? I’d pay to see that.)

Directed by Richard Curtis

A Confederacy of Dunces

Starring: Philip Seymour Hoffman as Ignatius J. Reilly (I realize Hoffman is dead, but he was my first choice. However, I guess I’d take Nick Offerman in his place. He’s already playing Ignatius on stage in Boston anyway. Ooooooor, James Corden might do a good job at it too.)

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson

Fates and Furies

Starring:

Lee Pace as Lotto

Emily Blunt as Mathilde

Directed by Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu (I LOVED Birdman. Some of my favorite scenes in that film involved Riggan and his ex-wife, and I would really like to see Inarritu take on a story about domesticity/marriage)

What are some books on your movie adaptation wish list?
